48 Bikes donated for Summer Day Camp Kids
48 bikes were donated to the YMCA of the East Bay to benefit kids from the Summer Expanded Learning Program (ELP) at Sheldon Elementary School in Richmond, CA. This bike donation was made possible by teambonding.com who selected the YMCA of the East Bay as this year’s nonprofit recipient through their Charity Bike Build program from one of their clients.
Manny Nungaray, Chief Development Officer accepted the bikes on behalf of the YMCA of the East Bay at a teambonding.com event held at Stanford University. “It was wonderful to see so many bikes donated to the Y for our Summer Day Camp Kids, and it was even more special to see one of our families attend the event where 8-year-old Maya had the opportunity to choose her bike. The happiness and joy you see from Maya were gratifying. Thanks to teambonding.com, they will change 48 kids’ lives from low-income communities who will now have an opportunity to experience the excitement and joy of owning a bike,” said Mr. Nungaray.
The Expanded Learning Program believes in elevating youth's voice and emotional intelligence so they flourish as future leaders. Every day, the ELP provide safe spaces for youth to cultivate their social emotional growth, healthy relationships, and leadership skills.
This summer, ELP is offering camp at Sheldon Elementary, where we will be engaging around 200 kids in hands-on activities every day to foster curiosity, creativity, and new friendships along the way! Campers will discover gardening, art, science, fun-filled outdoor games, and more.
